Performance of the New Kia Sportage

The latest Sportage features a new and powerful engine,
which offers a stellar performance while sipping gas. Underneath the
hood, you will find a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine generating
up to 187-horsepower. The engine comes paired with an eight-speed
automatic transmission and all trims offer your choice of front-wheel or
all-wheel drive. Should you choose AWD, you will enjoy an extra 1.5
inches of ground clearance, giving the Sportage lots of adaptability on
rockier terrains throughout East Texas. This newly-available Active AWD
blends electronics and hydraulics, with a center locking differential to
direct engine torque to all four wheels when needed on slippery or
uneven roads.
Even as a non-hybrid, the Sportage offers plenty of fuel
economy for a midsize SUV. However, should you want the most efficiency
this SUV has to offer, you can consider the all-new Sportage Hybrid,
which features a 226-horsepower turbo-hybrid powertrain and standard
AWD. The Sportage Hybrid will be able to travel an EPA-estimated 39 mpg,
combined city, and highway.

Interior: Comfort and Storage Space
Last year's Kia Sportage was hailed for having generous
cargo and passenger space for a smaller SUV. This year, the redesigned
Sportage earns its stripes as a midsize SUV with an expanded interior
volume. After its redesign, the Sportage is now over seven inches longer
with a wheelbase increase of roughly 3.4 inches, providing more
interior space and cargo room. Your passengers in the backseats will
enjoy more legroom than they would on similarly-sized SUVs, with over 41
inches. The standard dual-level cargo area now offers the best volume
in its class, with 39.6 cubic feet of space.

Tech and Entertainment Features
If you're looking for easy ways to keep you passengers
informed and entertained on your next road trip, the Sportage has a lot
of technology you might like. All trims now come standard with
smartphone pairing through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a
Bluetooth system that can successfully pair two phones simultaneously.
Drivers who want to enjoy the most features can select upper trims like
the SX-Prestige, which includes wireless device charging, a Harman
Kardon premium audio system, and Kia Connect, which includes a 4G LTE
Wi-Fi hotspot, stolen vehicle tracking/immobilization, and Smart Speaker
integration that works with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

Safety Features
The all-new Sportage will feature a host of standard
safety applications through the latest Kia Drive Wise suite. Kia Drive
Wise features were introduced a few years ago and now return with new
applications designed to prevent accidents. All of these apps use
special sensors to monitor you and your surroundings, while several
Drive Wise features can take control of vehicle functions, as needed, to
prevent serious collisions or distracted driving. All Sportage trims
come standard with Kia Drive Wise safety features like:
- Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
- Lane Following Assist (LFA)
- Reverse Parking Distance Warning (PDW-R)
- Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)
